Updated Augst 31st, 2019 – Bond’s cords when he visits his ancestral home in Scotland in Skyfall were the All Saints Iggy Corduane Jeans. He wore them with the Barbour X To Ki To (you can find the current equivalent here), the N.Peal teal sweater, the Crockett and Jones Islay boots, and his dad’s Anderson Wheeler Double rifle (and thanks to AJB007 forum member @bonspy for setting me straight on that!).
Supposedly the originals were in the Bitter Chocolate color and priced for about $115.00. The pants were dyed a darker color for the film, as confirmed by this post by jon_1uk on page 3 of this thread on AJB007, which includes a response from All Saints customer service about the modification. So there is still some doubt as to the actual original color of the Iggy Corduanes used in Skyfall. In any event, they’re no longer available unless you can find a pair on Ebay or the forums.
Features Wanted for the All Saints Iggy Corduane Jeans
- 5 pocket style in a slim cut
- Narrow wale cords
- Button fly
- Very dark brown
Are slim fit, dark brown 5 pocket cords not in style this season? Because there’s really not a lot out there. The only hope I have is that it’s still early in the Fall/Winter season. So we may see more hitting the shelves in the months to come. I’ll keep hunting for options and update this post when I find more.
If you do decide to go with one of the straighter cut options below, remember that you can get trouser legs slimmed down by a tailor if you want a more fitted look. It’s usually a pretty easy and inexpensive procedure. You can learn more about getting the right pants for your body shape in this Affordable Bond Wardrobe article.
Best Option for the All Saints Iggy Corduane Jeans
Brax Cadiz Corduroy Straight Fit Pants in Brown: on sale for $59.97
A great deal at Nordstrom Rack (they originally retailed for $198.00)! And there’s still a decent selection of sizes left. The heritage German brand (they’ve been around since 1950) used to have all their trousers made in Europe. But I’m not sure if that’s still the case. The product page for these ones just says “Imported”, which could be anywhere. Anyway, the pants themselves are a great dark brown and the 98% cotton/2% elastane corduroy fabric will have some give to keep them comfortable. Even though they’re listed as a “straight fit”, my experience with Brax is that they fit very true to size in the waist, but are cut a little slim.
M&S&W Corduroy Pants in Coffee: $23.77 to $25.93
A true budget pair coming to us from Amazon. The fabric is listed as a “Cotton Blend”, with no percentges. So who knows what the mix of organic to synthetic really is. They also note that this are “Asian Size”. Which means read the size chart and be ready to size up. They have sizes 27 to 37 in stock.
St. John’s Bay Straight Fit Stretch Corduroy Pants in Frontier Brown: on sale for $42.50
A nice dark brown color in a 98% cotton/2% spandex corduroy fabric. These are from the JCPenney house brand. So expect the cut to be a little roomy, especially in the “Straight Fit”. That should work well for you guys with thicker legs. They also have almost all sizes in stock. I’m not sure how long that sale price is going to last. But to get the discount, use the code “FORYOU43” at checkout.
Saks Fifth Avenue Corduroy Pants in Brown: on sale for $54.59
And another good deal on cords, this time from Saks Off 5th. The original retail was $228.00, so that’s a heft 76% discount. Based on the model photo, these look to be a true straight cut in a cotton/elastane blend fabric. They have sizes 32 to 38 in stock, but only a 32″ inseam.
They’re a lighter brown than I’d like. But they are a true slim fit. Gap has used their proprietary “GapFlex” fabric. Which is another 98% cotton/2% spandex blend. It seems like stretchy pants are really a think right now. Lots and lots of sizes are available on their website. And they also come in a skinny fit if that’s better for your body shape.
Two things about this option. First, don’t be worried that the product photo doesn’t look like corduroy. The product description clearly states that these are a “8.6oz, 98% cotton, 2% spandex 18 wale corduroy”. And a quick check of the close-up pics on the Mountain Khaki website confirms that they are indeed corduroy and a true slim fit. Second, for some reason they’ve decided to list each size as a separate product on Amazon UK. So here are the links to different pages: 30W X 32L; 32W X 34L; 33W X 32L; 36W X 30L; 38W X 34L.
