Welcome to 5 Things I Want! So what’s this post about? Just what the name says! It’s a place to share some incredibly cool things that I’ve found during my wanders around the internet searching for affordable alternatives. Five things that made me shout, “I WANT!” as soon as I laid eyes on ’em. They won’t always be Bond-related. And they don’t really fit into other posts. But I definitely think they’re worth a look!
Grenfell Redding Jacket in Navy: £730.26
Some guys are inherently cool enough to wear the full-on black leather double rider biker jacket. I am not one of those guys. But this beauty? I swear I would rock the hell outta this thing! Made in England from their famous Grenfell cloth, it features real horn buttons, side adjusters with leather wrapped buckles, a storm flap, and an asymmetrical two-way front zipper. I’m a jacket lover through and through and I’ve seriously been obsessed with the Redding from the moment I saw it.
I’ve been looking for a while now for that perfect suede long wing blucher to fill in a gap in my shoe collection. The 9794 would do the job perfectly. First, suede long wings are a very versatile style. The textured suede and more robust design of the long wing keep things casual. But it still fits comfortably into a “relaxed business” scenario. Second, the slightly reddish, mid-brown “snuff” works with a broad color palette. That means these will go great with jeans, chinos and flannels or tweed trousers. Third, they’re from Alden. I own a few pairs of shoes from the esteemed U.S. shoe maker. So I can tell you from experience that their footwear holds up for years. They really are worth every penny. For right now, the 9794s are my grail shoes. Especially if I can get them with a Commando sole!
We all know N.Peal from the brand’s connection to the Bond movies. Well, their Milano Cashmere Jacket also captures some of that Daniel Craig personal style. He’s often seen out and about in his dark navy Brunello Cucinelli cashmere notch lapel cardigan during the cooler months. In my humble opinion, this N.Peal model is a more than worthy alternative. Made from 100% Mongolian cashmere, they’ve used a Milano stitch to add subtle depth and texture to the fabric. And the slim-fit cut, patch pockets, and double-vented tail allow you use the piece casually as a cardigan or dress it up a bit as a soft blazer. We may be heading into summer. But just looking at the Milano already has me thinking about fall.
Thanks to a recent house fire that destroyed my home office, I’ve been on the hunt for some new art work. And I’ve long admired the work created by Vector Vectoria. His (her?) bright colors and minimalist designs feel both retro and contemporary. So they fit in to a variety of interior designs. This Piz Gloria piece is one of my favorites. So as soon as the finances are back in order, on my wall it goes!
Yes, both Bond and Daniel Craig use Globe-Trotter luggage. Yes, Globe-Trotter makes beautiful cases. But The Pioneer from Steamline had me drooling from the start. Designed by company founder Sara Banks, it’s really a modern piece of luggage (TSA approved locks, aluminum telescopic handle, silent-glide wheels) in a beautiful 100% leather vintage-style wrapper. Which you can protect with the rip-stop nylon cover that’s included. And then there’s what’s inside ….
Can anyone seriously tell me it wouldn’t be awesome to pull your clothes out of that on your text trip?
