Best Budget Style Finds November

Our Best Budget Style Finds for November shares the top discoveries from the previous month. Some of these will have already been included in past posts and are deserving of another mention. Some will be great alternatives found by the intrepid community. And some are just odds and ends that don’t currently have a home.

Starting with some Daniel Craig style inspo ….
Lucky Brand Waxed Bonneville Jacket in Navy: on sale for $84.46 to $126.86

An interesting alternative for Daniel Craig’s Belstaff K Racer. This one’s missing the quilted shoulders. And it has two chest pockets instead of one. But the cafe racer vibe is strong. The material is also kind of cool. It’s a 74% cotton/26% nylon blend that’s been treated to give it a waxy finish. Amazon has sizes medium to XXL in stock.

Mango Faux Shearling Suede Effect Jacket in Cognac: $139.99/£89.99

For fans of Craig’s shearling jacket look who’d prefer to avoid real sheepskin (or the high cost that comes with it). The Mango version has those big flap covered patch pockets. But the color and overall styling are a great match. Especially the leather trim around the seams and the throat latch. Being that it’s made from synthetics, I wouldn’t expect it will breath all that well compared to the genuine article. However, it should still keep you pretty warm when the temperature drops. Mango has sizes XS to XL in stock. You can find more shearling jacket alternatives in our James Bond Leather Jackets for Fall post.

City Sport Felted Wool Driver Cap in Marine Blue or Charcoal: $60.00

A couple of solid alternatives for the Brunello Cucinelli flap cap Craig loves to wear, suggested by our friend Enjoying Death. And they should be perfect for the colder weather ahead. The main material is an 85% wool/15% nylon blend. Plus they’re lined in polar fleece for some extra insulation. Double plus (is that a thing?) they have built-in ear flaps that tuck away when you don’t need them! And they’re made in Belgium. You can find more flat cap alternatives in this post.

Who’s up for a trip to Mr. White’s place?
Massimo Dutti Limited Edition Three-Tone Wool Sweater in Grey Marl: $120.00/£79.95

SPECTRE James Bond Roll Neck Sweater affordable alternative

Over on Instagram, a certain Mr. P. Resnick suggested this sweater as an alternative for Bond’s “Mr. White visit” turtleneck. We’ve already mentioned it in our post on Essential Bond Sweaters for Fall, but it probably deserves another look. Style-wise, I would definitely say it falls more in the “inspired by” camp. But I do like that thicker cable pattern. It adds more of rustic vibe that works well with a heavier turtleneck. Massimo Dutti has used a 77% wool/6% Yak/17% polyamide yarn so it shouldn’t be scratchy around the neck. Sizes small to XL are in stock.

Calvin Klein Military Flight Jacket in Rich Indigo: $250.00

budget SPECTRE James Bond Mr White Jacket

Alternatives for the Dior “Mr. White” jacket from SPECTRE are starting to roll in! And we’ll be updating the dedicated post for this now iconic piece of outerwear in a couple of weeks. To give you a taste of what’s coming, here’s a decent option available at Macy’s. Obviously the ribbed knit cuffs and hem and the button-through flap pockets aren’t screen accurate. But take off the removable faux-shearling collar and it starts to have the right look. $250 is pretty steep for a polyester jacket. But it dropped as low as $125.00 recently. So if you’re patient and wait for the next Macy’s sale, it should hit the price sweet-spot for those of us on a budget.

John Lewis & Partners Kilo Wool Blend Bomber Jacket in Navy: £175.00/$231.50

SPECTRE James Bond Mr White Jacket affordable alternative

Another “Mr. White” jacket alternative, this time recommended to us by Mr. R. Middleton via email. And he was the first to admit the design isn’t particularly screen accurate. But I gotta say: I really like it! It’s like a mash-up of the SPECTRE Dior and the NTTD Connolly Matera jacket, with a touch of of heritage workwear style thrown into the mix. The fabric is a 50% wool/40% polyester/10% “other fibers” blend. So it should keep you plenty warm. John Lewis has sizes small to XL in stock.

The Doctor will see you now …
J by Jasper Conran Navy Quilted Jacket: £55.00/$77.00

budget SPECTTRE James Bond Tom Ford jacket

Just in case you’re more inspired by Bond’s look in the SPECTRE Sölden scenes, Chaz Sizeland suggested this alternative for the Tom Ford jacket in the comments on our James Bond Fall Style Round Up post. It’s a much richer blue than the more muted tones we saw 007 wearing. But that’s a heck of a good price if you’re not too worried about getting an exact copy. Debenhams has sizes medium to XXXL in stock.

And if you’re heading somewhere warm when things cool down …
Mango Super Slim-Fit Checked Tailored Blazer and Trousers in Inky Blue: $139.99 + $69.99/£89.99 + £49.99

budget Style Finds SPECTRE James Bond Mexico City suit  budget Style Finds SPECTRE James Bond Mexico City suit

A truly budget SPECTRE Mexico City suit alternative, suggested by one of our readers, AS1106. The color looks to be a great match for the Tom Ford. But the pattern on this one is a little different, more of a pale blue windowpane over a small birdseye instead of a true Prince of Wales check. However, it gives a similar effect from a distance. The suiting is a 79% polyester, 22% viscose/2% elastane blend. So nothing to write home about, which isn’t a surprise at this price point. Lots of sizes in stock. Just note that this is a Mango super-slim fit! That’ll make you extreme Ectomorphs happy. but the rest of us may need to look elsewhere.

I’m always happy to see more Henleys!
&Sons Elder Henley Shirt in Natural: £80.00

alternative James Bond No Time To Die Bond 25 long sleeve henley

Thanks to Ian McDonald for recommending this one in the comments on our NTTD Long Sleeve Henley post! It’s another solid alternative for the shirt Bond was wearing in the recent Empire Magazine promo photo. The &Sons version has that deep three button placket we want (although the top buttons is positioned on the collar). And the curved hem should look cool if you wear it untucked. The fabric is 100% raw jersey cotton and you’ll find sizes small to XL on their website.

Now for the Odds & Ends portion of our program …
Stuhrling Original 3953 Watch: $74.95/£89.99

James Bond budget style find affordable watch

Omega Aqua Terra looks at a Timex price, suggested by @chrispaine_ on Instagram. The framed date window is more like the Skyfall version. But at 42mm, this is closer in size to the one Bond wore in SPECTRE. The Sturhling is water resistant rated to 100M and uses a pretty standard Miyota quartz movement. I’ve said before I’m not a fan of repros. Obviously this one is coming very close to that line. However, Stuhrling has been around for a while now (unlike some fly-by-night watch vendors on Ebay). And they do offer a 2 year international warranty on their watches. So, at this price, I think it’s worth sharing. You can find more Aqua Terra alternatives in our post on Daniel Craig’s Bond watches.

Soul Revolver Layer Cake Jacket: £249.00/$268.71

Daniel Craig Layer Cake Dunhill leather jacket alternative

I’ve had this one bookmarked for a while now. Honestly, I wasn’t sure about sharing it for two reasons. First, it’s black. And BAMF Style’s excellent overview of Daniel Craig’s outfit from Layer Cake makes it clear that his Dunhill leather jacket was actually a dark “espresso brown”. Second, I just haven’t had time to look more closely at Soul Revolver. Usually I’m hesitant about sharing leather jacket repros until I’ve done some research on the manufacturer. But I’m happy to say that these guys look like the real deal, with a score of 96% “Excellent” on TrustPilot after 241 reviews. They’ve also received positive feedback on Reddit, Fedora Lounge and So that’s reassuring.

As for the jacket itself, I’ve linked to the cowhide version above. But you can also get it in an Italian lambskin for about a hundred bucks more. While I read very few negative comments about Soul Revolver’s quality, there were a few mentions of their sizing running small. So just be aware of that before ordering.

NPS Heath Wing Tip Boot in Walnut Scotch Grain: £212.50

Budget Style Find Skyfall James Bond boots alternatives

A good looking alternative for the Crockett & Jones Islays from Skyfall that I stumbled across on Instagram. “NPS” stands for Northhamptonshire Productive Society, a 130 year old former shoemakers’ cooperative that was purchased in 2006 by a private investor, Ivor Tilley. And to Mr. Tilley’s credit, he kept the factory in Wollaston and all the workers on the payroll. Which is a long way of saying that a pair of made in England, full grain, Goodyear welted boots for under $300 is a heck of a deal! Especially when they offer free worldwide shipping. UK sizes 6 to 12 are in stock on their website.

I’ve had the soul revolver layer cake jacket for a few years. Mine is older and is missing a few details but it’s good quality and I got mine for a steal. My only complaint is the zipper is pretty lacking and on mine there were no exterior pockets. But the lamb quality and the fit is excellent. It looks like the zipper is much better now. Mine is very functional just super thin and does not appear durable. Really would like some new alternatives to the Bullitt, Daniel Craig navy turtleneck if you get around to it. And more ways to wear features, my favorite when we mix all the pieces around . Thanks for listening!
